What your ping test measures
Ping is the round-trip response time between your device and a server. A lower number means actions receive a response sooner. This matters most when timing is interactive: online games, video calls, remote desktops, voice chat, and live collaboration.
Quick-Ping sends two warm-up requests followed by ten measured requests. The displayed ping is the median of successful measurements, which is less distorted by one unusual spike than a simple average. Jitter is calculated from the change between consecutive responses. Failed measured requests are reported as loss.
What is a good ping speed?
Under 30 ms
Excellent
Highly responsive. A strong result for competitive games and live communication.
30–60 ms
Good
Comfortable for most online games, calls, browsing, and streaming controls.
60–100 ms
Usable
Generally fine, though rapid games and remote-control actions may feel delayed.
Over 100 ms
High
Delay becomes noticeable. Check WiFi, VPN routing, congestion, and server distance.
How to get a more reliable result
- Pause downloads, cloud backups, and streams on this device and other devices.
- Turn off your VPN unless you specifically want to measure the VPN route.
- Compare WiFi with Ethernet. If Ethernet is stable, wireless interference is likely.
- Test at different times. Evening-only problems can indicate ISP congestion.
- Run the full internet speed test too; a fast ping does not guarantee sufficient download or upload bandwidth.

What is a fast ping?
Under 30 milliseconds is excellent, 30–60 ms is good for most games and calls, 60–100 ms is usable, and more than 100 ms can feel delayed in real-time applications.
Is this the same as command-line ping?
Not exactly. Web browsers cannot send raw ICMP packets, so Quick-Ping times small HTTP requests to its server. The result represents browser-to-server response time and may be slightly higher than an ICMP ping.
Why does my ping change between tests?
WiFi interference, other network traffic, ISP congestion, server distance, VPN routing, and temporary device load can all change latency. Run several tests under the same conditions for a useful comparison.
Does faster download speed reduce ping?
Not necessarily. Bandwidth and latency measure different things. A high-speed plan can still have poor ping because of distance, routing, congestion, or bufferbloat.
